From the Night (1993-1998)
Within each painting of From Night series, there is a division between the upper space filled with the sky with whirling clouds and the lower one where hills of the foot of mountains in the south province are lying low in the shape of mother’s breasts. Above a ridge drawn with intentionally simplified lines stands aloft a pine tree or a bamboo spear. Some of impressive memories were combined in a single painting and its overall tone was the combination of shades of dark blue and black colors, through which I attempted to express “a landscape where thoughts reside”—a painting that could reach one’s heart emotionally rather than logically.
